Arsenal vs Crystal Palace betting tips

Arsenal will have to lift themselves for Sunday’s visit of Crystal Palace.

The Gunners were knocked out of the Europa League at the last-16 stage in a penalty shootout defeat by Sporting Lisbon on Thursday.

Gabriel Martinelli missed the crucial penalty to leave Arsenal out of all European and domestic cup competitions, with their sole focus now on achieving Premier League glory.

Mikel Arteta made five changes to the Arsenal starting XI, but he was unable to escape injuries with William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu forced off.

But a rudderless Crystal Palace might be the perfect remedy.

Crystal Palace are on a downward spiral having won a single fixture in 2023 with the club now just three points above 18th-placed Bournemouth.

The Eagles took the decision to sack Patrick Vieira on Friday after a 12-match winless run.

Back to basics…

Although Arsenal have been prolific on home turf, Sunday’s clash is unlikely to have the normal thrills, bells and whistles.

It’s simply all about getting three points to head off to the international break with their five-point advantage in tact.

Preparations have been less than ideal after a gruelling 120 minutes on Thursday, paired with injuries and Patrick Vieira’s departure.

So Mikel Arteta is likely to strip things back and return to basics.

The Eagles will have a caretaker in charge with an appointment unlikely over the next 48 hours, and a defensive display is expected with the club having failed to register a single shot on target in their last three matches.

So we think a low-scoring affair is probable with Arsenal to win 1-0 at odds of 19/4 with Ladbrokes.

Our tip: Arsenal win to win 1-0 at 19/4 with Ladbrokes

Ode to Odegaard…

Martin Odegaard only arrived on the pitch in the 100th-minute against Sporting Lisbon.

The 24-year-old is perhaps the most well-rested member of Arsenal’s squad having sat out the first-leg last week and played 20 minutes on Thursday.

Only Bukayo Saka has had more efforts on goal than Odegaard over the last six weeks with the midfielder averaging a shot every 27 minutes.

Arsenal will need a big performance from their captain, who has 10 goals this season and two in his last three top-flight matches.

Our tip: Martin Odegaard first goalscorer at 5/1 with Ladbrokes

Assist king…

Leandro Trossard is Arsenal’s new assist king.

Ok, perhaps too early to give him that title but he has provided five assists in 11 appearances since joining in January.

He’s provided an assist once every 91 minutes on average and his relationship with Martinelli and Bukayo Saka is flourishing.

The attacking star should keep his place ahead of the returning Gabriel Jesus, and we expect him to add to his assist tally this weekend.

Our tip: Leandro Trossard to provide an assist at 21/10 with Ladbrokes.
