Barcelona’s Laporta Speaks On Move To Bring Back Lionel Messi To Camp Nou

Barcelona is building a team of young talents and not considering Lionel Messi’s return, says club President Joan Laporta.

Naija News understands there have been rumours that the Catalans are making moves to get Messi to leave Paris Saint-Germain to resume playing for Barca.

Laporta has, however, debunked the report, stating categorically that there is a communication gap now between him and the Argentine star.

Naija News recalls that Messi left Barcelona last summer to join PSG as a free agent.

His former Barcelona teammates, the like of Pedri, Jordi Alba have been urging the 34-year-old to return to the Catalan club in the near future, but Laporta has now ruled out any possibility.

He noted that it was painful for him and the club to see the now seven-time Ballon d’Or winner leave Barca.

Larpota, however, said the club has since moved on with a new set of players.

He said: “It was not easy for me, I would have liked things to go differently, but as they happened, I thought of the institution first and I think we did what we had to do.

“We are not considering it. We are building a new team with young players, but he deserves respect,” Laporta said on RAC1.

He added: “I don’t speak with him, I don’t have fluid communication with him like before he left. We hear comments from people close to him… Barcelona pulls you a lot and when you leave you miss the city, Barça, he had a great life here.

“I felt worse for the personal and family side of things than the other, but also that.”
