Awkward moment Steve Davis gives Stephen Hendry seven-second death stare live on BBC during snooker final

STEVE DAVIS gave Stephen Hendry a seven-second death stare during the World Snooker Championship final.

The two former world champions appeared live in the studio during the BBC coverage of Monday’s afternoon session.

Kyren Wilson led Jak Jones 13-8 at the mid-session interval, with the coverage returning to the studio at the Crucible.

During the break in play, Davis and Hendry were asked by host Hazel Irvine to select their Shot of the Tournament from the nominees.

However, Davis was interrupted by his fellow pundit whilst giving his explanation.

Hendry quipped: “There was no safety shots there either for you.”

Irvine was left giggling by the remark, but Davis gave his colleague a stern look as he glared at Hendry for seven seconds.

Irvine then said: “Carry on Steve, just ignore him,” before Hendry goaded: “All good?”

Davis was able to let out a slight grin, though, as he resumed his assessment of one of Ryan Day’s shots from the tournament.

Hendry is not the only pundit to be on the receiving end of the Nugget’s death stare during the final.

Davis gave a similar look to John Parrott on Sunday after he referenced his infamous defeat in the 1985 final.

Just as Wilson had done, Davis won each of the first seven frames, but went on to lose to Dennis Taylor.

Meanwhile, he also clashed with Hendry last week as they analysed Ronnie O’Sullivan’s second round win over Day.

Davis has had a busy tournament with his punditry duties for the BBC and even told presenter Rishi Persad “don’t laugh” as O’Sullivan crashed out.

He made the blunt remark during coverage of the Rocket’s quarter-final loss to Stuart Bingham.
