PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG should be banned from wearing the Chelsea shirt or even being allowed in the training ground, according to ex-Blues star Craig Burley.

The struggling striker recorded just nine touches of the ball – four of those coming from kick-offs – as Chelsea lost 3-1 to Arsenal yesterday.

The striker struggled to get involved before he was subbed off

It was Aubameyang’s first Premier League start since the reverse fixture in November but he was hauled off at half-time by caretaker boss Frank Lampard.

The 33-year-old has struggled to get minutes during his nightmare season and has rarely been first-choice in recent months.

And pundit Burley, who won the FA Cup during his eight years at Stamford Bridge, believes time is up after the anonymous showing at the Emirates.

He told ESPN: “Aubameyang should not wear a Chelsea jersey again, he should not even be allowed to the training ground.

“It wasn’t [about a lack of] service — he walked around for 45 minutes. It’s embarrassing.

“Quite frankly, if I’m on the bench and I’m not playing because of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, what is that telling me?

“I’m thinking about a different sport. He doesn’t care, he’s a liability. It’s embarrassing.”

Aubameyang arrived from Barcelona in September as Thomas Tuchel looked to solve the club’s issues up front by recruiting his former frontman at Dortmund.

But the German boss would be shown the door only a few weeks later by Blues chairman Todd Boehly.

Aubameyang showed signs of promise in the early days of the Graham Potter era and netted three goals in four games.

But the 33-year-old would regularly struggle to get into the team from there on in.

He has only three goals in 21 Chelsea appearances and is being linked with a return to the Nou Camp.

In the second-half of last season, the former Gabon international scored 11 goals in 17 La Liga games for Barcelona.
