The Spaniard, 18, has impressed in LaLiga this season and has attracted interest from a number of clubs including Newcastle.

But now Eddie Howe’s men have pulled out of the race, with The Athletic reporting that both Arsenal and Dortmund have deals in place.

It is understood Valladolid will make a decision over which club he will join on Monday.

But, regardless of whether he joins Arsenal or Dortmund, Fresneda will be loaned back to the Spanish outfit for the remainder of the season.

The teenager is an attacking full-back who has also shown he is a capable defender.

He has already played four times for Spain’s Under-19 side.

But he has been unable to stop Valladolid’s shocking recent form.

The club have lost five games in a row in LaLiga and are without a win since the beginning of November.

As a result of their poor run, they have slipped into the relegation zone.

Fresneda’s move away will likely see him fighting it out at the other end of the table next season – whether that be for Arsenal or Dortmund.

The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League, five points ahead of defending champions Man City.

And Dortmund are in a battle for a top four spot in the Bundesliga, sitting sixth but just seven points off leaders Bayern Munich.
