UEFA Champions League: Messi Scores As PSG Knocks Man City 2-0

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Manchester City in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday night, Naija News reports.

It was all celebration yesterday for the Argentine professional footballer, Lionel Messi after the player scored his first goal since he joined the Ligue 1 side.

It could be recalled that earlier this year, Manchester City and PSG both fought to a place in the final. The two teams have separately conquered Ligue 1 and the English Premier League repeatedly.

Pep Guardiola’s side despite having pros of forwards was yesterday denied a breathing space by the home team who also have in their squad a combination of stars.

Naija News reports that an early goal from Senegalese professional footballer, Idrissa Gueye, gave PSG a lead in the first half of the Tuesday night match.

City boys had put up amazing touches and made several attempts to break PSG’s defence line but it was all negative as the home team seized the night with all lucks.

PSG did not just win the match, the Paris club defended brilliantly, and they were always going to cause problems for the City defence with the players they have in attack.

Mauricio Pochettino’s plan seemed to work to perfection. While still hopeful of making it a draw game, Messi’s 74 minutes goal took off the wind out of City’s sails, thanks to a fine touch from Kylian Mbappe.

Meanwhile, a former English professional footballer, Roger Hunt (MBE) has been confirmed dead.

Naija News reports that the former Liverpool forward died at the age of 83. Hunt’s demise is coming just a few hours ahead of the Reds’ Champions League clash with FC Porto.
