Super Eagles Of Nigeria Maintain Position In Latest FIFA Rankings

The position of the Super Eagles of Nigeria remained unchanged in the latest ranking of footballing countries released by FIFA on Thursday.

The report released on the FIFA website shows the Super Eagles remain 34th on the international rankings and also maintained the 5th position in Africa.

For other countries on the African continent, Senegal occupies the top position and ranks 20th in the world, Tunisia sits in the 25th position, while Algeria and Morocco occupy the 30th and 33rd positions respectively.

The above-mentioned countries occupy the top four positions in Africa and Nigeria joins them to occupy the 5th position.

On the international scene, the top ten countries in the world are Belgium, Brazil, England, France, Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, and Denmark.

The next FIFA world ranking will be released on 21 October, 2021.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday received the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and the CAF President, Patrice Motsepe at the Presidential Villa.

The FIFA President during the visit to the State House, presented a number 10 jersey, a FIFA logo, and a football.

The No. 10 jersey is mostly worn by icons in football who are greatly skilled.

Notable footballers across the world who have worn the number 10 jerseys are Pele, Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi.

The meeting had in attendance the minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare, and the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick.
