SALAH BLOWS OUT EGYPT AS MANE SHOOTS SENEGAL INTO THE WORLD CUP

Senegal have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as Sadio Mane’s last kick decides. There Terenga Lions of West Africa got the better of the Pharaohs of Egypt.

The two sides completed the final of their three consecutive meetings on penalty shoot out. The regular time ended 1-0 for Senegal making the aggregate score line 1-1.

Egyptain Captain Mohammed Salah failed to convert his penalty for his side as his Liverpool counterpart Mane scored the last of the shootouts for Senegal.

The two sides had to push each other to the latter before the qualification was decided. Senegal won the 2021 African Cup of Nations against the Egyptains on penalty shootout.

Boulaye Dia scored an early goal after just 3 minutes of play to get the Senegalese side on track. Both sides had numerous opportunities to score but failed. The extra time did not produce any goal as well and they had to resort to penalties.

The story became more interesting when players of both sides failed to convert their first two kicks respectively. Surprisingly, Mohammed Salah was the first taker for Egypt and failed after captain Kalidou Koulibaly failed for Senegal.

Amr Al Sulaya was the only player who could score his kick for Egypt. Ismalia Sarr, Bamba Dieng and Sadio Mane all but scored for Senegal.

Senegal joins Ghana, Cameroon, Morroco and Tunisia to represent Africa at the FIFA Mundial in Qatar.
