Ghanaian born defender Abdul Karim Salisu Mohammed has rejected the invitation to play for the Senior National Team, Black Stars. Many have tried fishing out his reason for this great opportunity. Yours truly has spoken to sources close to the player.

Salisu was born and raised in Kumasi where he played for Barcelona Babies. He has been one of the inform players abroad in recent years and his decision not feature for the Stars has been a huge disappointment for Ghanaians. His desire to don the national team jersey was very high but would be altered in the eschewing years.

He played for West African Football Academy between 2013 and 2015 before leaving Ghana. He got the chance to play for the National Under 17 Team, Black Starlets.

His decision not to play for Ghana goes beyond him as an individual, its a family decision with his mother as the pivot. This is due to the rejection he suffered from Coach Paa Kwesi Fabian at the juvenile level. The stalwart defender had the desire to showcase his talent to the world through the Black Starlets opportunity that was never a reality.

Coach Fabian had given him the chance to play for the team during the qualifiers but dropped him afterwards. He was. The source revealed that his mother then sold some family properties to secure some funds to entice the coach which he rejected. He then missed the chance to play for the Starlets and that angered the whole family.

There were several attempts to get him into the team including speaking to Mr. Kurt Okraku, the current President of the Ghana Football Association to intervene. Mr. Okraku was then a member of the GFA did not intervene.

The frustration caused Salisu to give up on football and sat out for almost two years. His luck shone when he got some foreigners to sign him through a trial game by the African Talent Football Academy. He then got his release by Mr. Kofi Manu who was then the Chairman of the Player Status Committee through the assistance of Mr. Thomas Boakye Agyemang.

Salisu was taken to Spain by the Football Academy where he signed for Valladolid. Currently, he plays for Southampton in England.
