QPR are now expecting Michael Beale to seal a stunning return to Rangers as the club’s next manager, according to a report.

The former first-team coach under Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox regime was revealed as the front-runner to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst by Sunsport following the Dutchman’s dismissal at the start of this week.

Now, according to talkSPORT, QPR EXPECT to lose their boss to the SPFL side and anticipate an approach.

Earlier this week Loftus Road supremo Les Ferdinand said the club wouldn’t stand in their manager’s way if that was the direction he wanted to take his career.

However no move has been made for the Championship side’s boss with Rangers still on the look-out for their 18th manager.

Ibrox dealmakers Ross Wilson and Stewart Robertson have been in London for the past few days and last night, Sunsport revealed they were ready to step up their interest over the next 24 hours.

Queens’ Park Rangers are Beale’s first top job having made the move from Aston Villa earlier this year where he served as Gerrard’s coach.

Beale is believed to be keen on the role and was at Ibrox as recently as last month.

The boss mixed with fans pre-match and embraced injured defender Connor Goldson before taking in the emphatic 4-1 win over Aberdeen.

The visit and subsequent speculation has drawn criticism from pundit Tam McManus.

The former Hibs striker blasted the boss favourite on PLZ Soccer.

He said: “I think it’s an unwritten rule amongst managers, that if you’re a manager and another manager is under serious pressure and you’ve been linked to the job, it’s like vultures circling for a job.

“I can understand why Giovanni van Bronckhorst was annoyed at that.

“Beale needs to see the bigger picture and he knows that manager is under pressure.”

Michael Beale has been QPR boss for just 21 games.

Meanwhile Charlie Adam has backed the 42-year-old former Liverpool youth coach as the ‘obvious choice’.

He told PLZ: “If it’s Michael then great, because he understands Rangers.

“I think it’s written in the stars for him to be the next manager. I don’t see anyone but Beale.

“He has connections in terms of being there before. He was instrumental in stopping Celtic winning ten in a row, and what Rangers were under Steven Gerrard.

“Now he is standing on his own two feet at QPR, and turning down the Wolves job must have been difficult for him.

“But the lure of Rangers would be very difficult to turn down.”
