Prince Agyemang: Medeama SC dead-eye striker reveals why he left South African side Cape Town City FC

Prince Opoku Agyemang (credit: Dada Oliseh Photos)Medeama SC striker Prince Opoku Agyemang has disclosed why his stint with South African Premier League side Cape Town City FC was cut short.Agyemang joined City in June last year on a one-year loan deal with an option to sign him on a permanent deal until 2024.The 28-year-old however failed to make an impact in South African football and his stay in Cape Town was cut short to only six months.The Citizensreplaced the Ghanaian striker with the signing Zambian striker Justin Shonga from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.However, Agyemang has given a different dimension to the reports, claiming he left the club because of the rules in the South African championship that does not permit more than five foreigners to play for a club at the same time.Cape Town city was 10th on the South African league table so they were seeking to strengthen their attacking machinery and they came for me on loan to propel them on the league ladder, Agyemang stated Kumasi FM.When I went there, I was playing very well as I was doing with Medeama but they were having a striker from Zambia whose papers werent ready and that was why they came for me.Unfortunately, according to South Africa rules, every club has the right to use five foreign-based players so when the Zambian striker got ready, one of the foreigners had to be sacrificed so I was used because my loan deal had expired.The club President is still following me at Medeama and everyone was sad when I was coming because I excelled in my six continuous games for them, he concluded.Agyemang is back to scoring duty – hitting four goals in six matches since his return from the Rainbow nation.His latest victim was Asante Kotoko when he scored an instinctive equalizer in their 2-1 victory against the Porcupine Warriors at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League last weekend.
