A new venue has been announced for the Community Shield match between English Premier League champions, Manchester City and rival Liverpool, Naija News learnt.

The UK Mirror reports that the match would now be played at the King Power Stadium.

The venue change was affected by the final of the Women’s Euro 2022 which would be played the following day at the Wembley stadium, the usual venue.

Naija News understands that the Community Shield tie had been scheduled for play on July 30, 2022.

The match would be played just a week before the commencement of the 2022/2023 Premier League season, while the final of Women Euros comes up July 31.

The next Premier League season will kick off on 6 August.

The upcoming English football season was scheduled to kick start earlier so as to accommodate the November-December Qatar World Cup schedule.

Meanwhile, English Premier League side, Manchester United have confirmed that Ralf Rangnick will not be staying on at the club in a consultancy position as previously expected.

According to a statement released by the club, both parties have reached a mutual agreement that will allow Rangnick to leave Manchester United and focus on the assignment of leading the men’s national football team of Austria.

The manager disclosed this during a press conference with Austria on Sunday and United also confirmed it in a club statement the same day.

“We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months.

“By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not, therefore, be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.

“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career,” the statement from United reads.

The club also thanked the manager for his time and role at the club while wishing him the best in the next phase of his life activities.
