Leweling, Sarpei feature for Gruether Furth as they stun Adams’ Hoffenheim in DFB Cup
Ghanaian duo Jamie Leweling and Hans Nunoo Sarpei played a role in Gruether Furth’s penalty shootout victory over Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.Sarpei who was introduced in the second half netted one of the penalties as the Bundesliga II side beat Ghana defender Kassim Adams’ Hoffenheim 6-7 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in 120 minutes of action.Young forward Jamie Leweling lasted 86 minutes and was replaced by Branimir Hrgota.Andrej Kramaric gave hosts Hoffenheim the lead after just 13 minutes but Gruether Furth fought back immediately to level through Sebastian Ernst.The visitors took the lead before the breakthrough Marco Meyerhofer.But the topflight side grabbed the equalizer five minutes into the second half when defender Kevin Akpoguma nodded home in the 50th minute.Kasim Adams missed the decisive penalty as Greuther Furth won 7-6 to progress in the Cup competition.
