The President of Obuasi Ashanti Gold, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has dragged his club Obuasi Ashanti Gold SC to the third tier of Ghana Football; Division Two. His Son, Mr. Emmanuel Frimpong, the Chief Executive Officer of the club has also been figured.

This follows the release of the decision by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association on their alleged fixed match with Inter Allies. The Committee chaired by Lawyer Osei Kwadwo Adow has banned Dr. Kwaku Frimpong for a period of 120 months (ten years). Emmanuel Frimpong also faces 120 years ban.

The decision confirms the 2020/2021 season’s 34th week fixture between the two clubs was fixed. The match took place at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium with 7-0 scoreline. Meanwhile the plan was to see the match ending with 5-1 scoreline. This was spoilt by Inter Allies defender, Hasmin Ahmed who scored two more goals.

Ashanti Gold and its officials are charged for breaching Article 27(1)(2) of the GFA Code of Ethics 2019, Article 18(1) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019 and Article 34(5) (a)(b) of the GFA Premier League Regulations 2019.

It was proven beyond doubt a total amount of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis was transferred to Emmanuel Nii Amoah of Inter Allies. It was sent in two batches through Mobile Money Agents, Prince Kwarteng and Isaac Quist. Both are located at Obuasi. A total of 43 messages were exchanged between the involved parties.

The Committee also announced sanctions for the Head coach Thomas Duah and the Team manager Aidoo Gee Ahmed. They have respectively been given 24 months ban.

The punishment will take effect at the start of the upcoming new season.
