Probert was the victim of a ‘serious incident’ in the Windsor parade ring after being kicked by a horseGetty

But he was kicked by the two-year-old colt in what Sky Sports Racing presenter Sean Boyce described as a ‘serious incident’.

Sun Racing columnist Matt Chapman, who was reporting from the track, said that screens were put up around Probert as he received urgent medical attention.

Chapman said live from the scene: “There has been a horrible incident.

“Imagine a horse kicking out and the sound it makes hitting a plastic railing – in this case it wasn’t the railing but a jockey.

“That was the noise that reverberated around Windsor.

“The screens are around him in the paddock here at Windsor.

“Before the screens were put up a doctor was with him and he moved his head.

“It was one of the nastiest moments I have ever witnessed.”

Chapman added following Perfect View’s 7-2 win – some 15 minutes after the race was due off – that the screens around Probert had been removed.

He later tweeted ‘we just hope’ this is good news, no matter how small, for the stricken rider.

Probert was rushed to hospital in nearby Slough – with his girlfriend on her way to be by his side.

It is thought he will undergo further observation tonight.

Probert is one of the UK’s top Flat jockeys and has earnings of more than £7.3million in the past five years.

One of his biggest wins came aboard Balding’s Dancing Star in the 2016 Stewards’ Cup, with victory worth a whopping £155,625.

But he is perhaps best known for guiding Sandrine to victory in Group 2 Lennox Stakes last July.

It is believed he has suffered an injury to his leg and will receive further treatment in hospital.
