Ivan Toney AXED by FIFA 23 with banned Brentford star removed in latest update amid eight-month ban for betting breaches

BRENTFORD striker Ivan Toney appears to have been axed by FIFA 23 in their latest squad update following his betting ban.

The 27-year-old England ace was banned from all footballing activity for eight months after pleading guilty to 232 of 262 charges levelled at him by the FA.

The written reasons for his suspension were revealed yesterday with Toney insisting he will give his side of the story soon.

Toney appears to have been removed from the latest squad update from the game.

Players have flocked to social media to reveal the star is absent when checking on Brentford‘s squad on the game.

Screenshots seem to show that Toney is missing for those who have updated the latest version.

The development comes after it was revealed yesterday that Toney was on course for a 15-month suspension.

The star in the end only received eight months after pleading guilty to most of the charges.

He was also diagnosed as a gambling addict as it emerged he bet on his own side to lose 13 times between August 2017 and March 2018.

But crucially Toney submitted those bets in games where he was not involved in any capacity.

Gareth Southgate believed that Toney’s case could have been handled far better.

The England boss said: “I have spoken to him. He has recognised the punishment.

“But what bothers me is that we have to look after people. He is injured and what does he do about getting fit?

“We have to give him structure so he can develop himself and maybe become a better person over the period.

“I don’t like the fact we should leave someone and not let them be part of the football community.”

Brentford backed their man in a statement.

They said: “The club will now be doing everything possible to provide support to Ivan and his family to deal with the issues raised in this case.

“Conversations regarding this and all matters relating to the case will remain confidential in order to protect the player and his family.

“We consider this matter closed and look forward to welcoming Ivan back to training in September and seeing him representing Brentford in the Premier League in January.”
