Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel says he feels sorry for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who was recently removed as Arsenal captain.

Tuchel in his reaction says basked on what he knows about the striker, he feels the Gabonese international doesn’t deserve the kind of treatment.

He however added that because he doesn’t know what has transpired internally, he has decided to respect the decision of Arsenal as a club and its coach, Mikel Arteta.

Naija News recalls Arteta, on Tuesday officially removed Aubameyang as the club captain. The development was confirmed in a statement released on the club’s official website on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier, Aubameyang was dropped in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Southampton last weekend after he failed to arrive back at the club as agreed following a trip abroad.

The club manager while speaking on the decision cited a “disciplinary breach” after the game at the Emirates.

Reacting to the entire episode, Tuchel said the reports about what has transpired contradicts the character of the Aubameyang he knows and coached at Borussia Dortmund, promising to reach out to the player.

“I will, I will at some point (reach out to him). But, you know, I don’t want to also disturb [him].

“I think he was a very important player for me and we had a very close relationship until today. When we meet it’s still always very, very nice.

“I can only say the best things about Auba as a player and as a person.

“I feel sorry for him that he’s in trouble. This is not where he should be with his kind of quality and the positive character that he has – and I still believe in that.

“But I’m not involved, and I’m not involved in what’s going on at his club now, and for this I also want to show my respect [to Arsenal] and not be involved and not judge what is right and wrong.

“I just have my picture and my relationship with Auba and this is not affected by that.”
