Hearts of Oak need "mafia" to win league – former boss Harry Zakour suggests

Former Hearts of Oak chairman Harry Zakour says the local giants need an important “mafia infiltration” to end a long wait for a Ghana Premier League crown.The former football administrator turned politician suggests the club adopts other “unorthodox” methods to clinch the league title.The Phobians have not won the title since 2009 tp spark a wave of criticism and attack on the club’s majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV.However, the club’s celebrated former chairman Harry Zakour, who led the side to clinch the Africa Champions League in 2000, is advocating for the infiltration of “mafia and tycoons” to help the side end to return to their successful days.”Accra Hearts of Oak has totally changed. I am not saying Togbe is not doing well. He is okay! I think he is doing his best,” he said”He has bought them a bus. I bought the secretariat in my my time and I bought them the old bus they were using and the Pobiman land, we bought it with the late Frank Sowah in my time. I was his vice when we bought that land.” And I think he is building something over there and I won’t say he is doing bad.”But, you see, football administration is a different thing altogether. It’s not done like a normal business.”You must have some mafias and tycoons in there to help you win.”The infiltration of mafia is a common practice in global football and characterised Italian football to the point that malpractice, deviance and criminal behaviour seemed to be the norm.
