Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry lined up for controversial January transfer return to Premier League

FORMER Arsenal star Serge Gnabry is being linked with a shock return to the Premier League amid uncertainty over his Bayern Munich future.

The German forward, 28, left the Gunners in 2016 after five years at the Emirates where he bagged 12 goals and eight assists in 38 games.

He departed for Werder Bremen, before Bayern Munich pinched him just 12 months later.

And he has gone on to play more than 200 games for the Bundesliga giants, scoring 82 times and assisting a further 51.

However, he has started just two of Bayern’s five league matches so far this season.

He did score in their Champions League opener against Manchester United – which ended in a 4-3 win.

But he could still be on his way out of Munich in the January window.

According to Spanish publication Nacional, Man Utd are lining up a move for Gnabry.

It comes amid off-field issues for two of Erik ten Hag‘s wingers.

Jadon Sancho has been left out in the cold after a public spat with the manager.

And Brazilian Antony has taken a leave of absence following allegations of domestic abuse.

It means Man Utd are light up front despite the addition of Rasmus Hojlund.

Ten Hag‘s men have come under major scrutiny during the early part of the campaign after three defeats from their opening six Premier League games.

Meanwhile, along with his impressive years at Bayern, Gnabry has also impressed for the German national team.

He has earned 43 caps for his country, scoring 22 goals and adding a further nine assists.
