FLOYD MAYWEATHER boasted of making $750MILLLION in just three fights following a $750,000 gamble at the start of his career.

The American legend became the king of the pound-for-pound rankings and pay-per-view box office.

But that was only after paying $750,000 to get out of his contract with Top Rank in 2006 in order to promote himself.

The risk was eventually worth the reward with Mayweather claiming to have made $1.2BILLION throughout his prizefighting career.

And over HALF of that was made for his fights against Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor.

So it is no wonder, five years after retiring following victory over McGregor, that Mayweather continues to rake it in through exhibitions.

‘I HATED IT’

KSI gives scathing verdict on Deji and says he got ‘beat up’ by Mayweather

The 45-year-old said: “A lot of time people say, ‘Oh, Floyd have to do exhibitions.’

“My philosophy is never stop getting it. Currency over legacy. Currency over legacy.

“I invested in myself, remember I was with a company, I don’t have to say the company’s name, but I was with this company for a very long time.

“As soon as I bought myself out of my contract for $750,000, I left and in my first fight, I made crazy money when I was my own boss.

“In three fights, Canelo, Pacquiao, and McGregor, I made $750million just in three fights.

“So, it’s just all about just being smart, playing chess in the real world, and surrounding yourself with great people and people that believe in you and believe in your goals.

“Always know that you’re not the only smart person in the room.

“Surround yourself with smart, intelligent people, and always know there is no limit to how far we can go and how far we can grow.”
