FORMER NFL star Derek Wolfe has been slammed for killing a HUGE 195lb mountain lion with a bow and arrow.

The Superbowl 50 winner, 32, revealed he had been asked to hunt the animal in rural Colorado as it had been “wreaking havoc” in a neighbourhood.

Two dogs and a mule deer are the reported victims of the huge mountain lion, and the woman who asked Wolfe to bring its reign of terror to an end was “nervous what he might do next”.

An “exhausted, dehydrated and cramping” Wolfe hiked over 9,600 feet up rough terrain after finding the deer, which he presumed the big cat had killed.

The former NFL defensive end then found the animal and killed the 195lb beast with a bow and arrow.

While crawling backwards down the mountain, Wolfe says he fell 10 feet off a rock face while dragging the lifeless body back to his truck.

Wolfe, who shared a photo of him lifting up the 6ft-plus carcass, said on Instagram: “*Predator Control* Late Tuesday night I got a call from @huntnest to see if I wanted to stalk a giant Tom (male mountain lion) who has been wreaking havoc in a rural neighborhood.

“He had already killed two of her dogs and was living under her porch, nervous what he might do next.

“We found a fresh 4×4 mule deer he had just killed.

“We hiked straight up 2500ft and down the other side, then back up again, back down the other side and then back up again to 9600ft.

“Exhausted, dehydrated, cramping I drew back my @hoytbowhunting and sent an @sevrbroadheads through him.

“Then I had to crawl backwards down the mountain with him to get him to the truck I fell 10ft off a rock face on the way down lol. Any guess how big this thing was?”

However, Wolfe’s hunt has been met with fierce criticism.

One fumed at the keen fisher and hunter: “Glorifying a so-called tough guy taking out a majestically big and beautiful cat.

“Too bad the endangerment laws are not fully enforced in CO. And oh – keep your friggin dogs indoors at night.”

Another said: “Grant is not a city. When you live in rural Colorado you sign up for living WITH wildlife.

“There are guidelines for NOT making your dogs a food source. Go back to Kentucky.”

It’s not the first time Wolfe has upset animal lovers.

Last year he killed a 2,000Ibs buffalo before posing with the dead animal and even removing its heart.
