Sanchez and Co endured a frustrating evening, drawing 0-0 with Paraguay despite Robert Rojas’ 44th minute red card.
Things got even worse, however, when they attempted to take their post match showers.
Explaining the vile situation, the former Manchester United and Arsenal star fumed: “At the Colo-Colo stadium I was sitting stretching and excrement from ourselves in the shower came out of the drain.”
Sanchez, 34, played for Colo Colo during the 2006-07 season.
He has been playing for Chile since that year and has earned an incredible 159 caps.
The forward represented his country at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
Chile have failed to qualify for the last two editions, however, and are already struggling in their quest to reach 2026.
La Roja have so far won just one of their opening five qualifiers, beating Peru 2-0 last month.
The top five teams will qualify automatically for the tournament, while the team in sixth will enter a play-off round.
