EPL: Chelsea’s Jorginho Confesses Love For Man City, Guardiola

Italian professional footballer, Jorginho has confessed his love for English Premier League top club, Manchester City.

The 30-year-old player while entertaining questions from journalists at an interview over the weekend, admitted he could have joined another Premier League club different from Chelsea.

Naija News recalls that Jorginho joined the Blues from Napoli in 2018 when Maurizio Sarri was the head coach of the Premier League challengers.

Having spent four years of his football career with Chelsea, Jorginho who spoke ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League round of 16 tie with Lille on Tuesday, said he would have been under Pep Guardiola.

He revealed how he had loved to watch Guardiola play alongside Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta, and others at Barcelona many years ago when he was still a kid.

Jorginho who plays from the midfield said he would love to play for Pep Guardiola one day.

He said, “A bid arrived and… you don’t know, man. I am not going to say it.

“No, I am kidding. I was not supposed to come to Chelsea. I was supposed to have arrived at another club. Another English club. And then it happened as it happened and I arrived at Chelsea, which also, hey, with history, that is Chelsea, right, man.”

The Italian footballer told Ale Oliveira that everything with Chelsea happened so fast.

He said: “So with Chelsea, everything happened very fast. When I saw it, I was already in London and I said ‘let’s go’.

“But it is not a secret. If you put it on the internet, you will find it. It is Manchester City.

“I have [this dream]. I don’t know if it will [happen]. But yeah, he [Pep Guardiola] is a reference. When I was a kid, watching his Barcelona [team] win everything with Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has denied reports of a power struggle with Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Several reports had emerged suggesting that both players have been at loggerheads as the club battle to end the season in the Premier League’s top four.

Maguire has been well below his best this season and it has been reported the United skipper feels undermined by Ronaldo’s influence, with his continued role as captain questioned.

In a tweet posted via his Twitter page on Friday, Maguire has rejected talk of a dressing room divide involving him and Ronaldo earlier this week.

He tweeted: “I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another,” he said ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match at Leeds.

“Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone.”
