And amid the fallout of the interview, Ronaldo has now offered himself to Real Madrid on a six-month contract according to Sport.

The Spanish outlet claim Ronaldo wants to return to the Spanish giants as a replacement for the injured Karim Benzema in January.

Benzema was forced to pull out of France’s World Cup squad after picking up a thigh injury – though Didier Deschamps confirmed he would not be calling up a replacement for the Ballon d’Or winner.

Ronaldo himself fell ill earlier this week after linking up with the Portugal squad for their own World Cup campaign.

Chelsea could make Ronaldo move in January, Pochettino makes managerial hint

However, after missing the warm-up game against Nigeria he has since been spotted back in training ahead of Portugal’s opener against Ghana.

In terms of getting a move, Ronaldo’s problem thus far has been an inability to find someone who can accommodate his huge wage demands.

Ronaldo currently earns half a million pounds per week at Man Utd.

But the club are now preparing legal action following his bombshell interview, which could see him miss out on £16m as they consider ripping up his contract.
