And they announced his arrival with a brilliant video including snippets of Shrek baddie Lord Farquaad speaking to the Mirror on the Wall.

Burnley’s social team edited the video to have Farquaad weigh up three new potential signings instead of picking possible princesses as he did in the film.

The first option available was Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina ace Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo – who is now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia – was the second option.

Foster was the third and final potential signing, which Farquaad chose just as he did Princess Fiona in the film.

Footy fans were quick to comment on the brilliant announcement, with one saying: “Sensational.”

“I’m blessed and thankful for the opportunity and I just can’t wait to get started.

“From the moment I heard that there was interest from Burnley, my heart and my head were set on the club.
