Former President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, has reacted to Anthony Joshua title loss to Oleksandr Usyk.

Naija News reports that Joshua, also known as AJ on Saturday lost his WBA, IBF, and WBO world heavyweight titles to Usyk.

Recall that the Nigerian-British boxer has been defending the titles for over two years now.

However, after Saturday’s bout, Saraki took to his Twitter handle to described Joshua as a true champion who demonstrated magnanimity in defeat.

Saraki encouraged the former champion, stating that he remained a king in the ring and real life.

The former Governor of Kwara State wrote: “You are a true definition of a champion. You showed real courage and character during the fight and demonstrated magnanimity after the verdict.”

Hold your head up high, you’ll surely live to celebrate another day!”, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain assured.

Meanwhile, Usyk and Joshua had after the Saturday battle confirmed they are ready to meet again for a rematch in February or March 2022.

“It was a good 12-rounder, so I’ll be in a good place when I get back into training to pick up where we left off. Usyk is a lot lighter than me so he’s got a good pace”, said Joshua.

Meanwhile, speaking in a post-match interview with Skysports, Usyk had said he abandoned his family for over six months to prepare for the fight against AJ.

The champion said he is eager to reunite with his family, adding that he missed seeing them play.

Usyk when asked how much the titles meant to him, said the only thing he wanted to do with the fight against defeated Anthony Joshua was to give praise to Jesus Christ.
