Those percentages remained when it came to free money, with 26% insisting they’d say no to £1,000, rising to 35 per cent for those aged 25-34.

Mancunians came out on top in the ‘most sceptic’ stakes with 29% saying they would be very wary of any sort of freebie.
Liverpool, Leeds, London and Glasgow made up the UK’s top five in the Premier Sceptic table.
