Barcelona given shock by Frankfurt as Europa League takes shape

FC Barcelona have been given a big shock by Eintracht Frankfurt in UEFA Europa League. The Spanish side were beaten 3-2 at home by the German side in a fashionable game.

Barcelona failed to capitalize on home advantage as they went down by 3-0 after 67 minutes of play. The Cam Nou was filled to capacity with thousands of German fans to match the number of Barcelona fans.

Frankfurt were held 1-1 at home in the first leg and that gave Barcelona an urge in the second leg but Frankfurt had other ideas.

Eric Garcia conceded a penalty as early as the second minute and Filip Kostic struck home to put Frankfurt ahead. Rafael Borre scored a spectacular goal to make it two for the German side.

The second half saw another good goal from Filip Kostic to put the game beyond Barcelona. Busquets goal to give them a life line was disallowed in the 84th minute.

With the 9 minutes of added time, Barcelona came in strongly to get a goal in the 90th minute through Busquets. Memphis Depay got the second through a penalty to make it 3-2.

Frankfurt will face Westham United in the semi-Finals in two weeks time. The English side also won away at Lyon with 3-0 score-line.
