Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has shed more light on circumstances surrounding the departure of former club captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Barcelona.

The Arsenal boss said the Gabonese international’s departure from the Emirates Stadium as a free agent in January was not a decision taken by a single person.

According to Arteta, three parties – Arsenal, Barcelona, and Aubameyang himself played critical roles in making the transfer happen.

“We always make decisions in the best interests of the club and to get the best performances from the team.

“We made that decision as three parties. One was the club, one was Auba, and the other was Barcelona. The three of us believed it was the right thing to do,” Arteta told Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, Leicester City forward, Ademola Lookman who recently switched his allegiance to the Super Eagles, and former U17 star, Akinkunmi Amoo have been added to the provisional list of the Nigeria National team for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off round against Ghana.
